Mercedes have gone back to black with its 2023 challenger as the team lifted the covers off the W14 for the first time.
The team, which last used a black colour scheme in 2020 and 2021, unveiled the striking livery at a launch event at Silverstone on Wednesday.
It says the move has been made as part of a “significant project” to reduce overall weight.
Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff said: “Racing at the front requires resilience, teamwork, and determination. We face up to every challenge, we put the Team first, and we will leave no stone unturned in the chase for every millisecond.”
After winning eight constructors titles in a row, 2022 saw the team slip to third following issues with weight, porpoising and bouncing.
Wolff said the team “mobilised every reserve we had” when realising that the car wasn’t where they wanted it to be.
“Our hopes and expectations are always to be capable of fighting for a World Championship. However, our competitors were very strong last year, and we are playing catch-up,” he added.
“This year, we are going all in to get back in front.”
