The Spanish Grand Prix circuit will feature a different layout this year as it was confirmed its final chicane will be dropped.

The Barcelona circuit will use its fast final two corners again, which was last seen in 2006.

A chicane between the two corners was introduced in 2007, partly to slow that section for safety reasons.

There was also hope the move would allow more overtaking down the main straight into Turn 1.

But with F1’s current aero rules designed around reducing dirty air, its likely having fast corners leading onto a straight will not hurt overtaking.

And Spanish Grand Prix organisers confirmed on twitter that the original layout of the Barcelona circuit will be used in 2023.
